A diesel tanker overturned while attempting to enter Mainsea Filling Station near Borome Roundabout, spilling its contents into nearby drainage systems. The incident, which occurred during the tanker’s maneuver to discharge fuel, led to chaos as hoodlums quickly arrived, scooping up the spilled diesel with containers earlier today.
The Residents who spoke to Pechilly Investigative Media name withheld confirmed that the tanker fell on its own. One resident, who chose to remain anonymous, described the situation as dangerous but praised the swift response of Hon. Cyril Ezeora Aka Zubby. He immediately called the fire service, Ocha brigade, police, and army to secure the area and prevent an explosion.
Firefighters successfully managed the situation by cooling the fuel to avoid ignition, while security forces controlled the growing crowd of scavengers. Fortunately, no lives were lost, and there were no reported casualties.
Authorities have since sealed off the area for safety as investigations continue into the cause of the accident. Residents have been urged to remain cautious and avoid unsafe fuel collection practices.
