In a commendable effort to maintain environmental sanitation, the Ocha Brigade has intensified its drainage desilting exercise in Onitsha, Anambra State. The ongoing operation aims to ensure a cleaner, healthier environment for residents by tackling long-standing drainage issues in key areas of the city.
The desilting exercise has focused on locations notorious for poor drainage and unsanitary conditions, including Peace Park, Upper Iweka Express, and surrounding environs. These areas, once plagued by blocked waterways and accumulated waste, are now witnessing significant improvements thanks to the Ocha Brigade’s tireless efforts.

Described as the “beautification backbone of Anambra,” the Ocha Brigade has consistently been at the forefront of keeping the state clean and healthy. Their work goes beyond routine sanitation, embodying a deep commitment to enhancing public health and environmental aesthetics.
“We are determined to ensure that Anambra remains clean and healthy. This is not just a job for us; it’s a mission to uplift the state in all aspects,” said a spokesperson for the Brigade.
Residents have praised the ongoing desilting exercise, expressing relief over the improved drainage systems. “Upper Iweka Express used to be a mess, especially during the rainy season. Now, there’s real change, and we thank Ocha Brigade for their dedication,” a local resident said.

The Anambra State Government has reiterated its support for Ocha Brigade’s efforts, urging citizens to maintain cleanliness and avoid actions that could block drainage channels.

With the Ocha Brigade leading the charge, Anambra is steadily transforming into a cleaner, healthier state. Their efforts continue to set a standard for environmental management and public health maintenance.
