National Coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe (Akaekpuchionwa and Chinyelugo 1 of Ogbaru), has dismissed claims made by Oba Tipper drivers regarding the tragic deaths of eight operatives of the Special Anti-Tout Squad of Anambra (SASA). He described their version of events as “lies from the pit of hell” aimed at distorting the truth and evading justice.

Speaking to reporters, Obigwe praised the SASA operatives for their remarkable work in ridding the state of touts and maintaining peace, particularly at hotspots like Upper Iweka. According to him, SASA personnel had successfully arrested a drug dealer at the Oba Tipper garage, who provided critical information prompting the operatives to return for further arrests.

However, the situation reportedly escalated when Oba Tipper drivers allegedly blocked the operatives’ vehicle and began driving recklessly. Obigwe claimed the drivers rammed into the SASA vehicle from both the back and front, causing an accident that killed three personnel instantly and left others seriously injured.
“The most tragic part,” Obigwe narrated, “was that instead of rendering assistance to the injured operatives, some youths at the scene reportedly killed two more personnel. The rescue team that arrived took the remaining injured operatives to the hospital, where three more succumbed to their injuries, bringing the death toll to eight.”
Describing the incident as condemnable, Obigwe called on security operatives to arrest and question the Oba Tipper drivers, insisting that they cannot exonerate themselves from culpability in the operatives’ deaths. He stressed that justice must prevail to honor the sacrifices made by SASA personnel in ensuring a safe and peaceful Anambra State.
“The souls of the eight murdered SASA operatives will only rest in peace when those responsible for their untimely deaths are made to face the full weight of the law,” Obigwe emphasized.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident, but investigations are reportedly underway to uncover the true circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths.
