The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, on Friday, celebrated the promotion of 110 police officers in a colorful ceremony held at the Anambra Police Command. The event saw the decoration of officers who had recently risen through the ranks in recognition of their dedicated service.
The newly promoted officers included 20 Superintendents of Police (SP) elevated to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP), 24 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) promoted to Superintendents of Police (SP), and 66 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) upgraded to Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP).
Senior officers and the families of the promoted staff took part in the decoration ceremony, with the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, DCP Felix Ogarabe, speaking on behalf of CP Itam. Ogarabe emphasized that promotions were a sign of divine favor and urged the officers to rise to the responsibilities of their new ranks. “Promotion comes from God,” he said. “You must justify this new rank by being exemplary leaders who inspire those beneath you and adhere to the highest standards of professionalism.”
DCP Ogarabe also reminded the officers that with their new roles came heightened expectations and accountability. “Your responsibilities have increased. You must now exhibit greater wisdom in your decision-making,” he added.
In a heartfelt vote of thanks, Chief Superintendent of Police, Andy Jokpeyibo, expressed gratitude for the honor and committed to using the new positions to further the progress of the police force.
This event follows a similar promotion ceremony earlier in the week, where the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Ukpo, AIG Godwin Ndidi Aghaulor, decorated 15 officers promoted within the zone.
The promotion of these officers reflects the ongoing efforts within the Anambra State Police Command to reward hard work, enhance leadership, and maintain discipline across the force.
