Awka, Anambra State – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has launched an urgent appeal to the public to assist in locating the family of an eight-year-old boy, Master Divine Chisimdi Onyejiaka, who was found wandering aimlessly in Awka.
According to a statement released by SC Okadigbo Edwin, Head of Media and Tactical Operations, NSCDC Anambra State Command, the child, a pupil of St. Raphael Nursery and Primary School, Okpoko, in Ogbaru Local Government Area, was brought to the NSCDC headquarters in Awka on December 20, 2024, by a concerned citizen.
“Master Divine Chisimdi Onyejiaka, approximately three feet tall and fair in complexion, was discovered without any specified destination and has been unable to provide coherent details about his journey from Okpoko to Awka,” the statement read.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the child allegedly left home after being disciplined by his mother, Mrs. Nnenna Onyejiaka. Despite ongoing efforts, NSCDC officials have been unable to locate his parents or relatives.
The boy is currently under the protective care of the NSCDC Anti-Human Trafficking Unit as the search for his family continues.
In a heartfelt appeal, the NSCDC urged members of the public to come forward with any information that could help reunite Master Onyejiaka with his family.
“Anyone with useful information about the child’s biological parents or relatives is kindly requested to contact the Head, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, or the Head of Media and Tactical Operations, NSCDC Anambra State Command, at GSM number 08035771835,” the statement concluded.
This incident highlights the growing need for community vigilance and support in protecting vulnerable children. The NSCDC continues to ensure the child’s safety as they work to resolve the case.
