The Anambra State House of Assembly has lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his commitment to infrastructure development, particularly the reconstruction of Nkwo to Nkwo Road and Igwe Orizu Road in Nnewi. The commendation came during Tuesday’s plenary, where Hon. Augustine Ike, representing Nnewi North Constituency, moved a motion highlighting the governor’s efforts to transform the state into a smart, prosperous, and livable homeland.
Hon. Ike noted that, as of November 2024, Governor Soludo had awarded contracts for 621.649 kilometers of roads, with 316 kilometers already asphalted. Among these projects are the Nkwo-Nkwo and Igwe Orizu roads in Nnewi, alongside the near-completion of Edo Ezemewi Road, popularly known as Bank Road.
He emphasized the significance of these roads, stating that their deplorable conditions had hampered commercial and business activities in the bustling Nnewi area. The reconstruction is expected to ease commuting challenges, enhance connectivity, and boost the socio-economic activities of the industrial city.
Supporting the motion, lawmakers from across the state, including Hon. Anayo Okpalaeke (Aguata One), Hon. Nonso Atuchukwu (Nnewi South One), and Hon. Emma Nwafor (Orumba South), among others, commended Governor Soludo for his proactive approach to infrastructure development. They praised his administration’s ongoing efforts to construct and rehabilitate roads across all 21 local government areas of Anambra State.
Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who presided over the session, also commended Hon. Ike for bringing the motion forward, underscoring the importance of legislative collaboration in supporting the governor’s developmental strides.
The House adjourned the plenary session to reconvene on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
Governor Soludo’s infrastructure agenda continues to receive accolades, reflecting his administration’s focus on creating a sustainable and business-friendly environment in Anambra State.
