The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a 34-year-old man, Nwokpoku Emmanuel, in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping case. The suspect, originally from Ebonyi State but residing in Oduke-Obosi, was taken into custody following a targeted operation by law enforcement officers.
The arrest comes after the abduction of a victim in a neighboring state. The kidnappers had demanded and received a ransom of Fifteen Million Naira (N15m) before releasing their victim. However, the gang made off with the victim’s red Mercedes Benz GLE 450, which was subsequently tracked and recovered by police operatives at MCC Junction in Onitsha.
Preliminary investigations have identified the gang’s leader, known as Ebuka, who remains at large. The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has activated strategic measures to apprehend Ebuka and other members of the criminal syndicate.
Speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, assured the public of the Command’s commitment to enhancing safety across the state. He emphasized that the police would continue to refine their operational strategies to combat crime and bring perpetrators to justice.
Residents of Anambra State have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by providing information that could lead to the capture of the remaining suspects.
This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Anambra State Police Command to tackle criminal activities and restore public confidence in the security framework of the state.
