In a bid to strengthen public safety and citizen involvement in combating crime, the Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has continued his statewide security tour with visits to Aguata and Orumba North Local Government Areas on November 28, 2024.
During the visits, CP Itam held discussions with key stakeholders, including Local Government Chairmen, Traditional Rulers, Ward Councilors, members of the Anambra State Vigilante Group (AVG), Presidents General of various communities, and other community leaders.
Addressing the gatherings, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of citizen participation in maintaining law and order. He urged community leaders to support the newly established Community Police Committees at area commands and divisional offices, which aim to foster collaboration between security agencies and the public while enhancing trust and confidence in policing efforts.
CP Itam also addressed the illegal Monday sit-at-home orders imposed by secessionist groups, calling on all stakeholders to resist such directives and cooperate with security agencies to ensure uninterrupted socio-economic activities in the state.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stating that the police remain resolute in combating all forms of criminality across Anambra.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, commended the initiative as a vital step in sustaining peace and security in the state. The tour forms part of CP Itam’s broader strategy to engage communities, identify security challenges, and develop solutions tailored to local needs.
This outreach further demonstrates the Anambra State Police Command’s dedication to ensuring a safer environment for all residents.
