Onitsha, Anambra State – In a strong move toward creating a cleaner and healthier environment, the OCHA Brigade has intensified efforts to enforce cleanliness regulations in Onitsha, cracking down on those violating state rules. Under orders from Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the task force has been empowered to address environmental offences, including improper public defecation and urination in drainage areas.

The commander of the OCHA Brigade on clean and healthy environment enforcement team Hon. Ejike Odife, emphasised that the governor’s directive is clear: all residents must respect the environment and adhere to the state’s cleanliness standards. In an effort to address the problem of public sanitation, the government has constructed designated facilities for public defecation and urination, providing a sanitary alternative to avoid contaminating the city’s drainage systems.
“We are committed to upholding the governor’s vision of a clean and respectful Onitsha,” stated the OCHA Brigade coordinator under the directive of Hon. Celestine Anere the MD of OCHA brigade Clean and healthy environment enforcement “Those caught disrespecting these regulations will face immediate consequences, which include community service and other appropriate penalties.”
This action forms part of a larger initiative by the Anambra State government to restore order, prevent health hazards, and maintain an environment that all residents can be proud of. Residents and visitors are urged to make use of the newly built facilities, as the OCHA Brigade continues its operations to protect the community’s cleanliness and uphold the governor’s directive.
