Awka, Anambra State — Governor Chukwuma Soludo has forwarded the names of three nominees to the Anambra State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation as members of the Judicial Commission. The nominees are Dr. Mrs. Ifeyinwa Obegolu, Dr. Ben Nwankwo, and Hon. Victor Ezeoke.
The nominations were presented in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze. The letter was read during Tuesday’s plenary session, where it was confirmed that these individuals were being put forward to fill key positions in the state’s Judicial Commission.
Additionally, Governor Soludo sent another set of names for the Anambra State Civil Service Commission. These nominees include Ezewaka Anthony Uchechukwu, who has been proposed as Chairman, and Bar. Chukwuma Christopher, Mrs. Okoli Philomina, Mrs. Udealo Adobi Margaret, and Dr. Ogbakalu Chidiebere as members.
In line with Section 126 of the Nigerian Constitution, Governor Soludo has also put forth Mr. Akaosa Charles Okocha for the position of State Auditor-General. Moreover, Mrs. Josephine Nkolika Anyaegbunam has been nominated as Auditor-General for Local Governments in the state.
Speaker Udeze, after reading the governor’s letters, referred the names to the House Committee on Screening and Electoral Matters, chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye. The committee has been tasked with screening the nominees and reporting back to the House at the next plenary session, scheduled for Thursday, October 3.
These appointments are expected to bolster the functioning of the state’s judicial and civil service systems, as the Soludo administration continues its focus on governance reforms in Anambra.
