In a breakthrough operation, a joint security force comprised of military personnel, civil defense operatives, and other security forces successfully apprehended two notorious members of a secessionist group. These individuals were involved in a range of criminal activities, including kidnapping, car snatching, and armed robbery. The operation was conducted in various areas including Uga, Ekwulobia, Umuchu, Nkpologu, Ezinifite, and other parts of Aguata.
Following an investigation into a previous kidnapping incident in Aguata, the joint security operatives received credible intelligence that led them to these dangerous criminals. Today, on the 22nd of August 2024, the operation was executed in the middle of the day, resulting in the successful arrest.
To maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, the names of the arrested suspects have been withheld. Meanwhile, one of the criminals sustained a bullet wound on his leg during the operation. Notably, the other suspect posed as a fake pastor who specialized in preparing criminal charms for the gang members.
Significantly, the arrested suspects have already confessed to their involvement in the reported crimes and are cooperating with the police to identify and capture other members of their gang. Valuable information regarding the location of the shrine where they prepared the criminal charms, as well as the whereabouts of some of the stolen vehicles, has been provided by the suspects.
Addressing the citizens of Anambra, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, assured the public that the police command is tirelessly working on all reported cases, particularly those related to kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities. The trust placed in the police for the protection of lives and properties is not taken for granted, emphasized the commissioner.
The news of this successful operation was shared PECHILLY MEDIA by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command in Awka. The joint security force’s swift action and the subsequent arrest of these notorious secessionist group members are expected to bring relief to the people of Aguata and nearby areas, fostering a sense of safety and security in the community.
