The ongoing construction of the Solution Innovation District in Awka, beside the Government House, has been met with approval from the Anambra House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure. The committee, responsible for overseeing infrastructure projects in the state, expressed satisfaction with the standards and progress of the project.
The Solution Innovation District is an ambitious endeavour envisioned by the state government as a training centre for youth to acquire life-transforming skills and develop expertise in technology. This innovative initiative aims to empower the next generation with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the digital age.
During their oversight function, the Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Emma Nwafor, accompanied by committee members, visited the site to assess the construction progress. Hon. Nwafor, who represents the Orumba South Constituency, commended the quality of materials used and the efficiency of operations on-site, stating that they were in line with the required standards.
Pechilly Media correspondent reports that the lawmaker urged the contractor to uphold these high standards throughout the duration of the project and ensure its timely completion. He also took the opportunity to appreciate the state government for spearheading this vital initiative, emphasising its potential to significantly enhance infrastructural development and create employment opportunities for the youth once the project is finalised.
In response, Engineer Awolaji Olalekan, the contractor entrusted with the construction of the Solution Innovation District, expressed gratitude to the state government for their confidence and support. He informed the committee that the construction is currently in the foundation stage and is expected to be completed within a period of eight months. Olalekan assured the committee that adherence to standardised procedures and specifications would be maintained throughout the entire construction process.
The Solution Innovation District project holds great promise for the future of Anambra State. By providing a dedicated space for technical training and skill acquisition, the district aims to equip young people with the necessary expertise to compete in a rapidly evolving global economy.
