Awka, Anambra State – In a shocking incident, a female personnel of the Anambra State Traffic Management Agency (ATMA) has been assaulted by a tricycle rider while on duty at the notorious Aroma Junction in Awka. Miss UG Ezenwa, the victim of the assault, was carrying out her traffic control responsibilities when she encountered the unruly tricycle rider.
Aroma Junction has long been a traffic congestion hotspot in Awka, causing headaches for motorists, commuters, and traffic officials, especially during peak hours. The persistent traffic jams prompted the state government to assign ATMA officers to the junction on a permanent basis.
Recounting the incident, Miss Ezenwa explained that she noticed the tricycle rider parked in the middle of the road, obstructing the flow of traffic as he awaited passengers. She signalled for him to move away, but he blatantly refused to comply with her directives.
To her dismay, the tricycle rider proceeded to disembark from his vehicle and physically assault Miss Ezenwa. He claimed that she had insulted him by asking him to move his tricycle from the road.
