In a bid to address recent concerns raised by citizens regarding police misconduct, the Anambra State Police Command has taken decisive action. They have successfully identified both the police team and the officer mentioned in a viral protest video that captured alleged police brutality.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has urged the public to remain calm while assuring them that necessary steps are being taken to investigate the incident. Additionally, the Command invites the victims to come forward and provide any relevant information that can aid in the investigation and facilitate necessary actions against the officers involved.
The Command emphasizes the importance of utilizing proper channels to report grievances against police officers rather than resorting to unruly behavior, as seen in the protest video. By doing so, citizens can protect and uphold their fundamental rights while seeking a civil and professional police force.
Various channels are available for individuals to make complaints, including the CP Monitoring Unit of Command CMU, the Police X-Squad Under the State Criminal Investigation Department Police Complaints Bureau, PCB, or the newly resuscitated Complaint Response Unit under the Police Public Relations Department in Awka.
To further enhance accessibility, individuals can contact the Command Control Room at 07039194332 or reach out to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at 08039334002 in case of any distress. The Anambra State Police Command also recommends downloading the ‘NPF Rescue Me App,’ available on Android and Apple iOS phones, to report incidents and make complaints easily.
The Command assures the public that further details on the investigation will be communicated promptly. By taking firm and proactive measures, the Anambra State Police Command demonstrates its commitment to upholding justice and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.
