In a tragic turn of events, a devastating accident unfolded on the Nteje-Awka-Onitsha Expressway in Anambra State, leaving the local community heartbroken. On this fateful day, a commercial Mercedes Actros truck with registration number WKR824XA lost control after one of its tires burst, resulting in a catastrophic chain of events.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver struggled to regain control of the truck, but his efforts were in vain. Ultimately, the vehicle veered off the road and came crashing down, causing fatal repercussions for the unfortunate conductor of another commercial vehicle.
The Anambra State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps swiftly responded to the distress call. Margaret Onabe, the acting Sector Public Education Officer, confirmed the incident and relayed the details of this heart-wrenching incident. She revealed that two male adults were involved in the crash, resulting in grave consequences for one of them while the other sustained injuries.
“The probable cause of the fatal road traffic crash was a tire burst,” Onabe reported. “Eyewitnesses revealed that the driver lost control as a result of the tire burst and subsequently crashed onto the road.”
Before the arrival of the FRSC’s rescue team from RS5.3 Nteje, the Ogidi Police Division had already taken the deceased victim to the morgue, demonstrating the collaborative efforts of the authorities in managing this tragic accident.
