In a remarkable display of commitment to the welfare of his constituents, the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, has empowered residents of Nibo Ward three with essential start-up equipment and commissioned modern boreholes to alleviate the water scarcity in the area.
Rt. Hon. Okoye, who represents Awka South two constituency, provided constituents with equipment such as sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers, and deep freezers. These tools are intended to kick-start their journeys into utilizing their skills and improving their livelihoods. The initiative aims to meet the immediate needs of the people and complement the efforts of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration in the state.
To address the water scarcity issue, Rt. Hon. Okoye commissioned modern boreholes in strategic locations. These water facilities operate continuously with access to electricity and regular maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and reliable water supply.
Expressing his commitment to delivering democracy dividends to all his constituents, the Anambra Deputy Speaker clarified that the selected individuals for empowerment already possess skills but lacked the financial means to acquire the necessary equipment to launch their careers. He emphasized that while the equipment is provided free of charge, they must be used solely for their intended purpose and not resold.
During the event, Professor Tony Nwokoye, the President General of Nibo community, commended the lawmaker for addressing the basic needs of the communities. He applauded Rt. Hon. Okoye’s integrity and open-door policy, even beyond election campaigns, and assured him of their unwavering support. Barr. Chukwuma Lawrence, the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Awka South Local Government Area, and Engr. Raphael Umeadi, the Chairman of APGA in Nibo ward 3, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing how the lawmaker has not only fulfilled his campaign promises but exceeded expectations.
In response, Mrs. Eunice Mmaduka, speaking on behalf of the empowered constituents, expressed gratitude to Rt. Hon. Okoye for consistently connecting with them before, during, and after elections. She acknowledged his unwavering dedication to uplifting the poor and the downtrodden in society and assured that the equipment would be put to good use.
Such interventions and investments in human capital development are crucial for fostering sustainable growth and community development. The exemplary actions of Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye serve as a shining example for others in positions of power and provide hope and opportunities for the people he represents.
