In a commendable display of their technology-driven and revamped anti-crime approach, the Anambra State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued the victim. They also managed to recover the victim’s sky blue Toyota Camry.
The swift response from the police came after receiving a report around 4:30 pm on May 22, 2024, regarding an abduction in Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area. The officers wasted no time and immediately initiated a pursuit of the kidnappers.
During the chase, the criminals threw the victim out of the vehicle at Ndike village in Orumba North Local Government Area and fled towards escape. However, the determined police officers continued the pursuit, leading the criminals to abandon the vehicle along Umunze road in Orumba South Local Government Area before escaping into a nearby bush.
The police are currently conducting ongoing operations in the area in hopes of apprehending the hoodlums responsible for the attempted kidnapping. Meanwhile, the rescued victim has been debriefed by the police and reunited with his family, bringing relief and joy to all involved.
Commending the gallantry and swift response displayed by the police operatives, Commissioner CP Nnaghe Obono Itam assured the people of Anambra State that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, will continue to work tirelessly to prevent criminals from causing havoc and regrouping within the state. The safety and security of the residents remain a top priority for the Anambra State Police Command.
