The police force in Anambra State, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining a strong presence and ensuring the safety of its residents.
The police force recently achieved a major breakthrough with the arrest of a notorious cultist and armed robber, Anichede Akachukwu, also known as Star B, in Uruagu village, Oba, Idemili South LGA. Akachukwu is the confessed leader of the Vikings Secret Cult Confraternity and Armed Gang, which has been terrorising Ogbaru LGA and Asaba in Delta State.
The arrest was made possible through a tip-off received by the police, as Akachukwu was receiving treatment for a bullet wound sustained during a confrontation with police operatives in Asaba. This arrest has not only taken a dangerous criminal off the streets but has also provided valuable information on the gang’s operations and its members.
Additionally, in Okija, Ihiala, the police recovered a white Porsche Cayenne Jeep suspected to be the operational vehicle of the criminal gang operating in Ihiala. During a search of the vehicle, the police found a bag containing 27 live 7.62mm ammunition, three live cartridges, a one-touch light, charms, and other incriminating items.
In response to these successes, CP Itam has urged his operatives to maintain the momentum and continue with their onslaught operations in order to weed out all criminal elements and reduce crime to the barest minimum in the state. The police force is determined to make Anambra State a safe and secure place for its residents.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, shared this information with the press, emphasising CP Itam’s commitment to the continuous fight against crime in the state. The residents of Anambra State can rest assured that their safety and security are of utmost importance to the police force.
