Operatives of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) Imo State Command have made another breakthrough in their fight against kidnapping in the state. They recently recovered a Toyota Avalon car suspected to have been abandoned by kidnappers at the Nekede/Ihiagwa forest in Owerri-West, Imo State.
According to the Imo State Commander of NHFSS, Dr. Iwuoha Fabian Onyebuchi, the recovery of the vehicle was made possible by intelligence received from a local poultry farmer near the forest. The farmer reported seeing kidnappers driving into the forest with their victims, prompting the NHFSS to swiftly swing into action.
Upon reaching the forest, the NHFSS operatives came across an abandoned Toyota Avalon car, leading them to suspect that the kidnappers had taken their victims deeper into the forest. While surveillance is being mounted in the bush in an effort to locate and rescue the victims, the recovered vehicle has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
Dr. Iwuoha applauded the efforts of his men and revealed that the Imo State Command of the NHFSS has successfully thwarted many kidnap attempts and provided additional security for the residents of Imo State. He attributed these accomplishments to the technical support provided by the Deputy Commander-General of NHFSS, DCG Amb. Dr. John Metchie, as well as the conducive atmosphere created by the Commander-General of the service, Amb. Dr. Joshua Osatimehin.
With the recovery of the suspected kidnapper’s vehicle, it is hoped that vital clues will be found to aid the ongoing investigation and apprehension of the culprits. The NHFSS remains committed to its mission of safeguarding lives and property in Imo State and across the nation.
