Awka, May 13th, 2024 – The Anambra State Police Command is pleased to announce the assumption of duty of CP Obono Nnaghe Itam as the 34th Commissioner of Police for the Command. This appointment comes after the retirement of CP Aderemi Adeoye on May 1st, 2024, after 35 years of dedicated service to the nation.
CP Obono Nnaghe Itam, born on June 16th, 1967 in Yakkur LGA of Cross River State, has an impressive career within the Nigeria Police Force. After joining as a cadet Assistant Superintendent at the Nigeria Police Academy Annex Kaduna, he has served in various positions across several states in the country.
With a BSc in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Calabar and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Port Harcourt, CP Obono Nnaghe Itam has continually pursued personal and professional growth. He has also received specialized training in various areas, including detective work, leadership, and auditing.
Throughout his career, CP Obono Nnaghe Itam has held prominent positions such as Divisional Police Officer, Coordinator of Courses at the EFCC Academy, and Director of Internal Affairs at the EFCC Headquarters. His experience and expertise make him a valuable addition to the Anambra State Police Command.
CP Obono Nnaghe Itam, in assuming his new role as the Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, aims to implement proactive policing strategies and community policing initiatives. He calls for the support and cooperation of the general public in combating crime and ensuring a safer Anambra State.
Beyond his commitment to law enforcement, CP Obono Nnaghe Itam has diverse interests, including conference presentations, farming, community services, leadership coaching, writing, and travelling. He is also an ordained Reverend of Foundation Faith Church, Salem Family worldwide.
The Anambra State Police Command urges the public to extend a warm welcome to CP Obono Nnaghe Itam and to work together in creating a secure and peaceful environment within the state.
