Odi Okojie, the husband of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie, has encouraged Nigerians to regularly check up on their loved ones, particularly those who may be struggling with mental health issues. Okojie emphasized the importance of being proactive in supporting and caring for individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Okojie shared his thoughts, stating, “Plus, endeavor to check on your loved ones. Mental health is real. Mad people everywhere.” His statement comes amidst recent allegations made by actress Angela Okorie against his wife, Mercy Johnson-Okojie.
Okorie accused Mercy of being an evildoer within the Nollywood industry, expressing her confusion as to why Mercy was transforming into a goat rather than a snake. These allegations have sparked interest and concern within the entertainment industry.
In another post, Okorie suggested that Mercy’s late mother had bound her and others together before her passing, raising questions about what would happen to them without Mercy’s mother’s guidance. Okorie advised her fellow colleagues to seek divine intervention and pray for enlightenment.
The issues raised by Okorie highlight the need for unity and support within the Nollywood community and the broader society. Okojie’s call for checking up on loved ones and prioritizing mental health is an important reminder in a time where the pressures of life and fame can contribute to mental health challenges.
Mental health issues have emerged as a significant concern globally, and Nigeria is no exception. The stigma associated with mental health often prevents individuals from seeking the help they need. This makes it all the more crucial for friends, family, and society as a whole to actively reach out and support those who may be silently struggling.
Okojie’s words serve as a powerful reminder that mental health matters, and it is essential to look out for one another, especially during challenging times. By promoting open conversations and offering support to individuals experiencing mental health issues, we can foster a society that is compassionate and understanding.
As Nigerians navigate issues within the entertainment industry and beyond, it is crucial to remember the significance of empathy and unity. Checking up on loved ones, acknowledging mental health challenges, and offering support can go a long way in creating a more caring and inclusive society.
