In a recent statement, Hon. Iwuchukwu Onwudiwe has called on the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Chairman, Comrade ChukwuEmeka Odogwu, to take action against the rise of fake journalists who have been exerting influence in Anambra State. Onwudiwe emphasized the need for the NUJ to address this issue promptly and ensure that perpetrators are apprehended and held accountable for their actions.
Onwudiwe highlighted that the presence of fake journalists in Anambra State has become a growing concern, as they have been spreading misinformation and manipulating public opinion. He urged the NUJ Chairman to strengthen the union’s taxforce and work diligently to identify and arrest those responsible for impersonating journalists.
The Honorable further emphasized the importance of upholding ethical standards in journalism and protecting the integrity of the profession. He stressed that allowing fake journalists to operate with impunity not only damages the credibility of genuine journalists but also poses a significant threat to the public’s right to accurate information.
In response to Onwudiwe’s call to action, Comrade ChukwuEmeka Odogwu expressed his commitment to addressing the issue of fake journalists in Anambra State. He assured that the NUJ would collaborate with relevant authorities to investigate and prosecute individuals found to be engaging in fraudulent journalistic activities.
