Anambra State bids farewell to its esteemed Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, as he is honored with a prestigious chieftaincy title. The title, DIke Ọchiịọha 1 of Ogbunka Kingdom, was bestowed upon CP Adeoye with the approval of the Anambra State Government. The ceremony took place on Sunday, April 28, at the palace of the Traditional Ruler of Ogbunka community, H.R.H. Igwe J.M. Anyaoha.
CP Adeoye’s wife, Mrs. Bolanle Adeoye, was also honored with the chieftaincy title of Adadịọramma 1 of Ogbunka, demonstrating the couple’s significant contributions to the community. The commissioner is set to retire from the Nigeria Police Force on May 1, 2024, after serving for an impressive 35 years.
To commemorate his invaluable service, a Pull Out Parade was organized for CP Adeoye at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. During the event, the commissioner expressed his gratitude towards the Anambra State Government for their recognition of his achievements and contributions. In addition to the chieftaincy title, the state government has also decided to name a street after him.
The conferred title, DIke Ọchịọha 1 of Ogbunka Kingdom, is a testament to CP Adeoye’s success in combatting crime and securing the lives and properties of the people in Ogbunka and beyond. His tenure witnessed the destruction of numerous kidnappers’ and criminals’ hideouts, resulting in the rescue of multiple kidnapped victims and the recovery of weapons and stolen vehicles.
CP Adeoye’s command played a crucial role in restoring peace and order in Ogbunka earlier this year. In January, his intervention and effective measures diffused tensions and prevented further escalation in the aftermath of an election. This incident showcased the commissioner’s dedication to maintaining law and order, even in the face of challenging circumstances.
The people of Ogbunka are grateful for CP Adeoye’s unwavering commitment to their safety and well-being. It is no wonder that the community has chosen to honor him and his wife with these esteemed chieftaincy titles. As CP Adeoye prepares for his well-deserved retirement, his legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations of police officers in Anambra State.
