The Anambra State Police Command has made significant progress in its efforts to end the resurgent cult-related killings in the capital city of Awka. In a series of intelligence-led manhunts, the police have apprehended 16 notorious cultists involved in the mayhem. However, 21 others are currently on the run and have been declared wanted by the State Police Command.
Following the arrests, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has ordered the detention of the captured cultists. CP Adeoye has expressed his determination to ensure that those responsible for the recent wave of killings pay for their crimes. He has also instructed the Special Anti Cult Squad (SPACS) to intensify efforts in tracking down the remaining identified cultists who are still at large.
In light of these developments, CP Adeoye has called upon community and religious leaders to speak out against the prevalence of cultism in society. Their active involvement is crucial in curbing this menace and ensuring the safety and security of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, has disseminated this information to all news outlets, highlighting the decisive actions taken by the Anambra State Police Command to address the issue of cult violence in the state capital.
