In a surprising turn of events, the Police force headquarters has ordered the detention of the aide-de-camp (ADC) to former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, after she failed to provide details of his escape from his house in Abuja where EFCC operatives were waiting to arrest him.
The incident occurred when the EFCC laid siege to the entrance of the house, but Governor Ododo of Kogi arrived at the scene, stayed for a while, and left. Speculations arose, alleging that the former governor had been smuggled out of the house in the governor’s car.
However, the Commissioner for Information, Kogi State, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, dismissed these allegations on Channels television, claiming that they were being peddled by vested interests. He categorically denied that ex-governor Yahaya Bello was taken away in Governor Ododo’s car.
Sources revealed that when the ADC was questioned about the former governor’s escape, she was not forthcoming with information. This lack of cooperation led to the order for her and other police guards to report to the FCT Criminal Investigations Department, where they are currently being detained.
According to sources, the investigation aims to uncover the ADC’s knowledge of the escape and any potential involvement of the officers in helping the former governor. The authorities are determined to determine how Yahaya Bello managed to evade arrest and whereabouts he might possibly be.
It is worth noting that the EFCC’s operation to arrest the former governor is part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct and possible breaches of the law during his tenure.
Despite attempts to reach the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, for an update on the ADC’s detention and the possibility of her facing punishment through an orderly room trial, Vanguard reporters were unsuccessful in obtaining a response. The FPRO neither answered calls nor responded to SMS/WhatsApp messages.
