9th April 2024 – The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, Commandant Maku Olatunde A, conducted an on-the-spot assessment and monitoring of the deployment of personnel for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
In adherence to the operational order released by the command, 951 personnel were deployed to various strategic locations across the state. To ensure their readiness and assess the security situation, Commandant Maku visited several flashpoints on Wednesday, 9th April 2024.
During his address to the personnel, Commandant Maku commended them for their professionalism and urged them to remain alert and vigilant to prevent any potential disturbances.
The command has deployed all available assets and employed both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to mitigate criminal activities before, during, and after the festive period. Commandant Maku emphasized the command’s commitment to combatting various forms of violent crimes, including vandalism, kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, and cultism.
“We are on high alert and determined to thwart the plans of criminals. We have heightened our operations and intensified them throughout the state. This fight is one we will not lose,” stated Commandant Maku.
The NSCDC State Commandant issued a stern warning to disgruntled elements, miscreants, hoodlums, and vandals who may attempt to incite violence or disrupt public peace during the celebrations. He assured that the NSCDC is fully prepared and ready to decisively deal with such individuals to ensure the safety and security of the state.
Commandant Maku also called for collective efforts among citizens and security agencies to identify and apprehend perpetrators of heinous crimes within society. He cautioned the public against shielding anyone suspected of engaging in criminal activities for the benefit of the people of Anambra.
During his visit, Commandant Maku took the opportunity to extend his felicitations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi mni, OFR, and all Muslims for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The ongoing visit, which will continue throughout the festive period, has taken the State Commandant to various significant locations, including Agu Awka Junction, Government House Junction, Aroma Junction, Aroma Bridge, Federal Secretariat Road, Unizik Junction, Kwata Junction, Amawbia Bypass, ABS Junction, Ekwueme Square Road, Ziks Avenue, and the Eid-el-Fitr prayer ground.
Commandant Maku was accompanied by Deputy Commandant of Corps, Alada Yakubu; Head of Operations, Deputy Commandant of Corps, Akaachia Godwin; Divisional Security Officer, Assistant Commandant of the Corps, Fidelia Enunwe, and Assistant Commandant of the Corps, Onyebuchi Onwuteaka, among others.
