Zone 13 AIG Represents IGP at Police College Oji-River, Enugu State
In a vibrant and grand ceremony, the Nigeria Police Force celebrated the passing-out-parade (POP) of 10,000 newly recruited police constables of the 2022 batch. The event, approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, marked the culmination of rigorous training designed to prepare the constables for their duties in addressing Nigeria’s complex security challenges.
The ceremonies were held simultaneously across four premier Police Colleges and 12 Police Training Schools nationwide. At the Police College Oji-River, Enugu State, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo-Dunukofia LGA, Anambra State, AIG Godwin Ndidi Aghaulor, psc (+), represented the IGP as the Reviewing Officer of the Parade.
In his speech, the IGP highlighted the significance of the occasion as a pivotal transition for the recruits, who now join the Force as professional police officers. He emphasized the importance of their role in upholding the rule of law, serving with empathy, and maintaining fairness and firmness in their interactions with citizens. “You have been equipped with the training and orientation needed to contribute meaningfully to the security of our nation while respecting the rights and dignity of every citizen,” the IGP stated.
The ceremony at Oji-River witnessed the attendance of prominent dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), represented by Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, head of the PSC’s Media and Publicity unit. Commissioners of Police from Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi States, the Commandant of the Police College Oji-River, and senior officers from sister security agencies also graced the occasion. Family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the achievements of the constables, who hailed from Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi States.
The IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Police Force to its Community Policing strategy, noting that the new officers would be deployed to their respective states to enhance local security efforts.
As the new constables embark on their careers, the Police Force congratulated them on their achievement and urged them to uphold the values of dignity, respect, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
